Ucapan Datuk Haji Muhammad Said yang dikutip dan diterjemahkan oleh Za'ba dalam risalahnya yang berjudul Recent Malay Literature:

'Never be afraid that your writing is too poor or your facts at fault. Abler people will correct you and improve on what you have begun by producing better works. If every writer were afraid to write because people may laugh at his shallowness, there would have been no books in the world"
